MAIRE Inputs:
The required user inputs for the execution of MAIRE are:
- Date: the date for which the atmospheric radiation environment is to be
evaluated. In format of DAY, MONTH and YEAR. This can be any valid date between
the years 1950 to 2010.
- Location: where in the atmosphere the radiation environment is to be
predicted. It is defined by the Latitude, Longitude and Altitude. The latitude
and longitude are specified in degrees and the valid altitude is between
0 and 100 km.
- Geomagnetic Condition: this is specified by the Kp index of the geomagnetosphere.
Here you can find the Current
Kp index and Past
Kp indices.
In addition, MAIRE allows the user to specify his/her own
incident spectrum at the top of the atmosphere (100 km) above the specified
location at the specified date. It will be used in calculating the radiation
instead of the incident spectra determined internally by MAIRE. Currently the
user specified spectrum has to be defined by 30 flux data points at specified
energies, the flux has being in units of particles s-1cm-2MeV-1sr-1.
